The terms that apply when you buy or commission a board from HEWN. Plain language, no surprises.

These terms apply to your use of hewn.au and to any board you buy or commission from HEWN. HEWN is a sole trader (ABN 21 463 560 911) based on the Gold Coast, Queensland. By placing an order, you agree to these terms.
The boards
Each board is handmade to order from solid Australian hardwood, with a solid brass inlay and brass feet. Because every piece is made by hand from natural timber, grain, colour and exact dimensions vary from board to board — listed sizes and weights are approximate, not exact.
Prices & payment
All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD). The price shown at the time you order applies. Card payments are processed securely by our payment provider; we don't see or store your full card details. Bespoke boards are quoted individually, and we'll confirm the price with you before any work begins.
Made to order & lead times
Boards are made to order, so work begins soon after you order. The usual lead time is around 2–4 weeks; we'll let you know if your piece will take longer. Lead times are estimates, not guarantees.
Cancellations
You can cancel for a full refund within 48 hours of placing your order. After that, your timber is likely already cut and work underway, so a cancellation may not be possible — but get in touch and we'll do what we can.
Shipping
Shipping is free across Australia and sent with tracking; we ship within Australia only for now. Full details are on the Shipping & Returns page.
Returns & your consumer rights
As each board is made to order, we don't offer change-of-mind returns or refunds. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Our goods come with guarantees that can't be excluded: if a board is faulty or not as described, you're entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. See Shipping & Returns.
Caring for your board
A timber board needs reasonable care. Damage caused by misuse — dishwashing, soaking, excess heat or neglect — isn't a fault. Care guidance is on the Care page.
Intellectual property
The content of this site — including the HEWN name, logo, designs, text and images — belongs to HEWN. Please don't reproduce or reuse it without our written permission.
Liability
To the extent permitted by law, HEWN isn't liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the site or a board. Nothing here excludes liability that can't be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law; where our liability can be limited, it's limited to repairing, replacing or refunding the board.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version published on the site at the time of your order is the one that applies to that order.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, and you agree to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of that state.
